Terms of Service

Effective 31 August 2026

Coursepad is a desktop application ("the App") operated by Rishab Ali Muhammad ("we", "us"), an individual sole proprietor in New York, United States. By installing or using the App you agree to these terms.

1. What Coursepad is

Coursepad is a local coursework dashboard — calendar, to-dos, a document library with a built-in viewer, and a folder-scoped terminal. Your documents and the data you enter are stored only in a folder you choose on your own computer. We never receive, sync, or store that content.

2. Accounts

A Coursepad account is identified by your email address and secured with a one-time sign-in link ("magic link") — there is no password. You are responsible for keeping access to that email account secure. One account may be used on a limited number of devices (currently 3).

3. Subscriptions, trials and lifetime purchases

Prices are in US dollars and may change with notice for future billing periods. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not see or store your full card details. Cancel or change your plan any time from the billing portal inside the App (Settings › Plan › Manage billing).

4. Refunds

Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.

5. If your subscription lapses

If a subscription is cancelled, expires, or a payment fails past the retry window, the App locks to the sign-in screen after a grace period. Your files always remain on your computer and stay fully readable and exportable — the lock only gates the App's dashboard features.

6. Acceptable use

The App includes a terminal that runs real commands on your computer with your own user permissions. You are responsible for the commands you run. Do not use the App to break the law, and do not attempt to circumvent the licensing checks or resell the App.

7. Third-party services

The terminal can run Claude Code if you have your own subscription to it. Claude Code is a product of Anthropic, governed by Anthropic's terms, and is not provided, resold, or supported by us.

8. Updates

The App may check for and install updates to stay secure and working. We may modify or discontinue features. Material changes to paid functionality will be communicated by email where reasonable.

9. Warranty disclaimer

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. Coursepad is a study aid, not a system of record — keep your own backups of anything important.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data.

11. Termination

You may stop using the App and cancel at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for a material breach of these terms, or where required by law or by our payment processor.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The state and federal courts located in New York have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the "Effective" date above will change and, for material changes, we will notify active subscribers by email. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
